My dad's (pa's) birthday is this week, so I thought I'd make him a homemade card to wish him a great day. Growing up, we called him Papi, the spanish name for "Daddy", but as we kids got older, we shortened it to Pa.:)
I've been having fun learning how to sew on paper, so I thought I'd keep on doing this! I cut out two balloon shapes from fabric, glued them on using a glue stick, then let it dry for a while. While those were drying, I made coupons (below) for him to redeem at any time. After the glue dried on the balloons, I stitched around the edges, then drew strings and wrote "happy birthday" with a black pen. I made clouds by tearing apart a cotton ball and gluing little pieces on around the balloons.
The decorative paper on the edges of these coupons were stitched on as well--why not, right? I also used fun stickers on these coupons. One coupon entitles him to a batch of homemade chocolate chip cookies (he loved these when I was living at home), and the other for a trip to Cinnabon with me and Q to enjoy a warm cinnamon roll with a glass of milk (one of his favorite treats at the mall). I know he'll like these, but I also know that he'll remember to redeem them as soon as we see each other again.
Pa, if you're reading this--happy birthday from me and Quentin. We love you!
