When my niece was three weeks old, I flew out to California to attend a baby shower in her honor. I decided to paint a box for her and fill it with baby clothes and toys. I thought it would be something she could use to put other things in as she got older. This is a close-up of some of the detail I put on this box. The butterflies are swirling in the sky spelling Mia Keli's name.

The entire box was painted in light blue. I sponge-painted clouds on next. To complete it, I painted butterflies in the sky and grass and flowers all along the bottom edge. Inside, I stained the box a natural wood color.
This is Mia at Christmas just a few weeks ago. I wanted to see the box and take a picture of it, so she happily posed with it. This box is now kept in her closet, and it is filled with all of her special baby things.
