Q's office door sign

This past weekend, I made Quentin a sign for his church office door. It was done just in time for the installation service. The night before while Q was at work, I went over to church to put the sign on his door. The next morning, I watched him enter his office. I could see the lights turn on as I watched from our dining room. I called him up and asked him if he liked it. He had not noticed it, so I said, "Look on your door." He loved it!

Since its color is close to the color of the door, I could see how he missed it. I found this wood piece at Hobby Lobby and put one coat of stain on it. I looked at a bunch of fonts and settled on snell round hand. Just by looking at it, I wrote out his name using a pencil. It's a lot easier to erase your mistakes when you're doing it in pencil. Next, I used a fine tip paintbrush and painted his name using black acrylic paint. I made some swirly designs on the sides. Then, I gave it a few coats of glossy varnish and let it dry for a couple hours. Finally, I signed my name and put the date on the back bottom corner of the sign.

My friend, Coco, thought we had it custom-made. That compliment encouraged me greatly as she's an accomplished artist. You never know...I may be making some more like this in the future.:) Do any of you need one made?
